WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that they have signed forward Jarrett Burton to an American Hockey League contract for the 2016-17 season. This is the first AHL contract of his professional career.

Burton saw action in 23 games with the Penguins last season while playing under a professional tryout contract. The 25-year-old from Echo Bay, Ont. recorded two goals and for two total points during his time in the AHL.

During the 2015-16 season with the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL), Burton led the team in goals (15) and points (38) at the time of his PTO signing with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on February 6, 2016. He returned to Wheeling for the Kelly Cup Playoffs in April where he totaled 14 points (7G-7A) in 21 postseason games.
